I spoke with John Ducsai from New Hampshire a few minutes ago on the phone about the fact that several major Forecasting Models are indicating the POSSIBILITY of a freezing rain event that COULD impact several states, beginning around Midnight (early morning) Thursday, January 11, and continuing through late Saturday night, January 13. The states that could be potentially impacted are: Missouri, Arkansas, Mississippi, Tennessee, Kentucky, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York, Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine.

Please understand that these Forecast Model Images that I am including with this email are still evolving, and the National Weather Service will begin to show their forecasts beginning late this afternoon, via our www.spia-index.com<http://www.spia-index.com> website. As a reminder, we use ONLY National Weather Service, forecaster verified forecast data which is submitted into the NWS National Digital Forecasting Database, or NDFD. These models that I am including here are independent of the NWS data, and are meant as a “heads-up” only.

As I suggested to John Ducsai, since the storm is now being forecast to cover such a wide part of the eastern and northeastern U.S., I would suggest focusing on getting crews from outside of those states mentioned above. Such other states would include Louisiana, Alabama, Florida, South Carolina, North Carolina, and Virginia. Just a suggestion on my part.

The NWS forecast images will begin coming into view later this evening on the SPIA Index website, usually after 7:00 p.m. central time, 6:00 p.m. eastern time.
