Two Meter Above Ground Level (AGL) Temperature Forecasts at 6am CST (12Z) and 6pm CST (00Z) from Monday, November 25, 2024 through Thursday, December 5, 2024 (10-Day Forecast). Sidney Sperry 24 Nov 2024 21:50 UTC
I wanted to share these 2-meter AGL Temperature Forecasts with you for tomorrow (Monday, November 25, 2024) through Thursday, December 5, 2024 - ten days out, in order to show the Arctic air that will be descending into the Midwest and Northeastern states over the next several days. These temperatures - if they validate - will be the coldest of the winter season so far.

At the beginning of this week (Monday), the colder air will be primarily in the North Rockies Region and the North Central Region. As you can see, single digit lows and below zero temps are in the forecast just across the border in Canada. Those bitterly cold temps will slowly make their way into WI, IA, IL, MI, IN, KY, OH, WV, VA, MD, DE, PA, NJ, NY, CT, RI, MA, VT, NH and ME after Thanksgiving and into the weekend following. By Tuesday morning, December single digit temps and low temps in the teens are forecast to reach from North Dakota to eastern Tennessee.

A slow warm up begins for these Midwestern and Northeastern states after Dec. 5th.

Some lake effect SNOW is also in the 10-day forecast for parts of the North Central and Northeast Regions. Some heavy snow is possible for some areas, from 8” to 12”+ possible over the next 10 days. Just a “heads-up” for what’s to come from now through the first 5 days of December. (Forecasts from Pivotal Weather, GFS Model)
