Light Freezing Rain with accumulations of up to 0.21” possible for parts southwestern KS and Cimarron County in the OK panhandle. SPIA Ice Impact Forecast is at Level 1.

Hurricane Rafael is now a Category 3 major hurricane with sustained winds of 115 mph. It is expected to cross the western third of Cuba over the next 12-24 hours and cause considerable damage from high winds and heavy rains. Rafael will then enter the Gulf of Mexico, where it is expected to meet extremely strong wind shear from an approaching cold front and should not have any major impacts on coastal states, other than some moderate to heavy rainfall in some areas, before diminishing in strength to a Tropical Depression.
