FYI..
Hurricane Milton is now a Category 5 storm with Max Sustained Winds of 180 mph. Its forward movement is East at 10 mph. Once again, the forecast track has shifted a few miles to the north - now barely north of Tampa Bay. Storm Surge from the Anclote River to Tampa Bay to Englewood is now estimated to be between 10’ and 15’. From Englewood to Bonita Beach, 6’ to 10’, and from Bonita Beach to Chokoloskee, 4’ to 7’. Storm total rainfall estimates are in the 4” to 15” range. Hurricane Force Winds of 74 to 96 mph will be possible from Lakeland to Orlando as Milton moves across the central Florida Peninsula from southwest to northeast and exits on Thursday into the Atlantic. Landfall is now estimated to be between 6pm and 8pm Wednesday evening, near St. Petersburg and the entrance to Tampa Bay. Milton is still forecast to be a high-end Category 3 or potentially a low-end Category 4 hurricane at landfall Wednesday evening. Note that some models still predict a Category 5 at landfall. - Sid Sperry
