4:00 p.m. CDT Update from NHC and Dr. Levi Cowan w/TropicalTidbits.com on now Hurricane Milton… Sidney Sperry 06 Oct 2024 21:38 UTC
Note the the track forecast has shifted to the south by several miles. Still, there is some uncertainty as to an exact landfall location. Track shifts are not uncommon at 3 days away from landfall, which is still being forecast to be around 1:00 p.m. or 2:00 p.m. Wednesday afternoon. Heavy rainfall of from 4” up to 12” + across central FL Peninsula. Not yet mentioned by NHC or Weather Prediction Center (WPC) but still likely is the threat of tornadoes with this fairly fast-moving hurricane. Still forecast to be a Major Hurricane, possibly a Category 4 (a few models show the possibility of a Category 5) at landfall, even with large amounts of dry air and wind shear being entrained into Milton several hours before landfall.
