Tropical Storm Milton forms in southwest Gulf of Mexico. Forecast Cone of Uncertainty takes Milton across central Florida Peninsula by Tuesday or Wednesday. Note that Cone of Uncertainty includes parts of Big Bend area, se GA, & se SC… Sidney Sperry 05 Oct 2024 19:17 UTC
FYI…

Tropical Storm Milton has formed in the southwest Gulf of Mexico. Note that its forecast intensity is in the Category 2 to Category 3 range, according to a majority of the Intensity models. This is primarily due to the extremely warm Sea Surface Temperatures in the eastern third of the Gulf of Mexico. Since this Tropical Storm/potential hurricane is going to approach Florida from the southwest, the heavier rainfall amounts will likely be on its south and southeast sides, and its strongest winds will likely be on its northeast and north sides, thus posing a risk to the twice-hit Big Bend area. Also potentially at risk under the current Cone of Uncertainty forecast projections would be areas of southeast GA and southeast/eastern coastal areas of SC. Certainly a Storm to watch and to begin to prepare for.
