Active Atlantic, with 2 Tropical Storms (Isaac & Joyce, no threat to U.S.), Invest 12L off the west coast of Africa (would be Tropical Storm Kirk if it develops further), and 2 areas of disturbance - 1 in the Northwest Caribbean Sea, 1 just off west Africa coast). Northwest Caribbean Sea disturbance given 50% chance to develop by NHC Sidney Sperry 30 Sep 2024 02:10 UTC
FYI…

I’ve included two forecast models, the NAVGEM and the GFS, that show a potential Tropical Storm developing in the Gulf of Mexico by next Friday/Saturday. Neither at this time indicate a hurricane or major hurricane developing. Some models actually show the Low that typically initiates a Tropical Depression or Tropical Storm dissipating before forming into a Tropical Depression late next week. The concern would be the potential for heavy rainfall (again) in parts of the Southeast Region, including parts of LA, MS, AL, FL, GA, SC, NC & VA. Worth keeping an eye on this disturbance this week. - Sid Sperry
