FYI…
Max winds at landfall still forecast to be in the 120 to 130 mph range Thursday night. Hurricane Force Winds (74 to 96 mph) forecast across much of southern & central GA, southeastern AL, and potentially into parts of western SC.
Storm surge in Big Bend area now forecast to be from 15’ to 20’.; “Unsurvivable” according to NHC officials.
Models continue to suggest a potential landfall near Apalachicola and the Apalachicola National Forest. As always, a reminder that the strongest wind speeds are most often found in the northeastern or eastern quadrant of a hurricane. The western FL peninsula will likely see sustained winds in the 58 mph to 74 mph range as Helene moves northward toward the Big Bend area tomorrow.
