Latest Updates on Hurricane Idalia from the NHC and NOAA’s Storm Prediction Center. Outages via PowerOutages.US and NationalOutages.com Sidney Sperry 30 Aug 2023 19:15 UTC
FYI…

Hurricane Idalia will soon be downgraded (if it hasn’t been already) to a Tropical Storm, with Sustained Winds between 39 and 73 mph. At 2 PM EDT, Sustained Winds were still at 75 mph, or at Category 1 hurricane levels.

Storm Surge was not as high as forecast, primarily due to Idalia making landfall during Low Tide this morning.

Winds and Wind Gusts will likely still be an issue for parts of GA, SC and NC over the next 12 to 24 hours. Idalia is moving northeast at a somewhat brisk 20 mph after landfall. Heavy rainfall will still cause impacts in parts FL, GA, SC, NC and potentially VA.

Total Outages at this time are ROUGHLY 430,000 across all utility sectors - Co-ops, IOUs, and Municipal Systems, as of 1:45 CDT.
