This is the first of a series of 3 emails - the first showing all the NWS Watches, Warnings & Advisories across the Continental United States (CONUS), plus the NWS Total Snow & Sleet Forecast for the U.S., plus the North Central Region and Northeast Region. The next 2 emails will be the NWS Total Ice Forecast for Regions and for individual states, and the 3rd email will be the SPIA Index Ice Impact Forecasts for Regions and states.
I’m very concerned about the potential impacts that this storm system could have on electric and communications infrastructures across multiple states. WIND will be a huge factor - if it is less than forecast (now in the 30 to 45 mph range in several states), the impacts from both snow and ice accumulation will be less. However, if the winds verify as forecast, the impacts could be substantial to utility systems in at least 10 states.
