Co-ops in VA, NC, SC & GA had fewer outages than expected overnight - a good thing! Outlook for next 72-hours: more snow across north-central & northeastern states; plenty of rain headed for parts of the south & southeast: TX, LA, MS & AL. Sidney Sperry 22 Jan 2022 13:46 UTC
Good morning to all.

The outage numbers for NC, SC, GA & VA look pretty darn good this morning! I’m sure Co-op folks are breathing a sigh of relief. As of 6:30 a.m. Central Time, co-ops in those 4 states only had about 4,700 outages, compared to Duke Energy Carolina totals of over 8,000 outages in the Carolinas alone. Phil, Jason & Harry visited this morning and have decided to CANCEL the planned conference call scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Eastern Time. Great news that outages were less than anticipated!

The next 72-hours are forecast to bring more snow to parts of MN, WI, IA, IL, IN, MI, OH, WV and PA. Snow amounts are forecast to be in the 2” up to 12”+ range, with the higher amounts being in lake-affect snow areas of Michigan, the Michigan Upper Peninsula, northeastern OH and northwestern PA.

A new system will be bringing rain to parts of eastern TX and southern LA beginning Sunday night into Monday and Tuesday. Rain is expected to move across the Southeast Region this next week, but little if any ice or snow is expected in that region. Good news!
