That didn’t take long… Tropical Storm “Nicholas” has formed, brushing aside the usual Tropical Depression stage and cruising to Tropical Storm stage with max sustained winds already at 40 mph. It is expected to move parallel to the eastern coast of Mexico and eventually make landfall somewhere near the Sabine Pass along the Central Coast of Texas sometime early Tuesday morning. Rainfall along the southern and southeastern TX coast could be in the 6” to 10” range, and in the 10” to 15” range for parts of southwestern LA. Winds could be in the 40 to 55 mph range in TX. Storm surge along the TX coast is forecast to be in the 2’ to 4’ range in some areas, including Galveston Bay. More updates later tonight. - Sid Sperry
