Final Update on Hurricane Henri…

This will be my final update on Hurricane Henri, as it is projected to make landfall early this afternoon in an area near the far eastern tip of Long Island, NY, far southeastern CT, or far southwestern RI. Henri will likely make landfall as either a Category 1 hurricane or as a high-end tropical storm. Expected impacts include heavy rainfall (primarily on the WEST side of the hurricane track), storm surge from 3’ to 5’ or more in some areas, flash flooding, urban flooding, and general flooding of low-lying areas, and sustained winds from 40 to 80 mph. These winds will likely cause major power outages across much of southeastern NY, much of CT and RI, MA, and potentially southern VT, NH & ME. Storm total rainfall amounts are still forecast to be in the 2” up to 10” range across eastern PA, northern NJ, southeastern NY, much of CT & RI, and parts of MA, VT & NH.
