Henri now has max sustained winds of 70 mph, just under hurricane strength (74 mph). Both Tropical Storm and Hurricane Warnings have been issued by the NHC for parts of northeastern New Jersey, southeastern New York (including Long Island), Connecticut, Rhode Island, and Massachusetts. A Storm Surge Warning has also been issued for much of the coastal areas of the above mentioned states. From 4” to 10”+ rainfall is currently being forecast, extending into central CT, western MA, and southern VT. NHC forecasters are predicting that Henri will likely slow to a crawl as it approaches landfall on Sunday, meaning prolonged sustained winds potentially in the 74 - 90 mph range, and torrential rainfall for much of New England before Henri exits toward Canada on Monday afternoon. - Sid Sperry
