It’s August… and things are starting to percolate in the Atlantic… Sidney Sperry 06 Aug 2021 20:49 UTC
All,

It’s been several weeks since Tropical Storm/Hurricane Elsa. The Atlantic has been relatively free of Tropical Waves and/or Tropical Depressions since then. But, as is normal during August and September, things are starting to “heat up.” Two new tropical waves have formed in the south-central and eastern Atlantic, neither of which is a current threat to the United States. However, further development is expected for both of these waves, and one could form into a Tropical Depression by late this weekend, with a 60% chance from the National Hurricane Center. We will watch these two waves closely over the next few days and keep you up to date on their development.
