Note that Tropical Storm Warnings have now been issued for the Georgia and South Carolina coastlines, and that a Tropical Storm Watch has been issued for the North Carolina and Virginia coastlines, as Tropical Storm Elsa is expected to make landfall in the Big Bend area of Florida this morning and begin turning to the northeast. Sustained winds are still in the 60-65 mph range, and heavy rainfall continues across western and north-central parts of the Florida Peninsula. Impacts in parts of FL, GA & SC over the next 24-48 hours will likely include continued heavy rainfall, strong gusty winds, flooding, flash flooding, storm surge in coastal areas of from 1’ up to 5’ in places, and the possibility of a few tornadoes associated with TS Elsa also continue to be a threat.
Note also the potential storm surge along the Georgia and South Carolina coastlines.
