FYI… while Tropical Storm Claudette never reached hurricane strength, it did show what kinds of weather issues and challenges that Tropical Storms can produce. Heavy rains, flooding, flash flooding, gusty winds and some damaging tornadoes in parts of LA, MS, AL, GA, SC, NC and the FL panhandle were all a part of Tropical Storm Claudette, which is now located off the VA/NC coastline and moving out into the Atlantic.
The next system that bears watching is a tropical wave located about 750 miles east-southeast of the Windward Islands. Forecasters are predicting that this system will meet some drier air over the next 48 hours, but still has a 30% chance of further development. It’s movement is west-northwest.
