Latest from the National Hurricane Center on Potential Tropical Cyclone #3, or, what could become Tropical Storm “Claudette” in a matter of hours. Still forecast to mainly be a heavy rain event for parts of LA, MS, AL and the FL Panhandle, with some rain also extending into western and northern GA, northwest SC, eastern TN and southwestern NC. Rainfall totals of from 8” to 10”+ are expected, with locally heavier amounts possible in eastern LA, southern MS, southern AL, and the FL Panhandle. A few tornadoes could occur as thunderstorms develop to the northeast, ahead of the Potential Tropical Cyclone #3 as it moves north-northeast over the next 48-72 hours. - Sid Sperry
