“Official” start of the Atlantic hurricane season is today, June 1...

Good Tuesday morning to everyone! I hope you all had a blessed Memorial Day yesterday, and took time to remember those who gave their life for our country and the freedoms that we enjoy today - and often take for granted.
Just wanted to share this graphic with you. It was produced by Philip Klotzbach, a renowned research meteorologist at Colorado State University in Ft. Collins, CO, who has been studying hurricanes in the Atlantic basin for many years. His Twitter updates can be found by following him here: @philklotzbach
Below, he shares a chart showing that, although June 1 marks the “official” start of hurricane season, more than 90% of all major hurricanes (Category 3 through 5) occur during the months of August through October. Just a reminder that “the season” is now upon us, and preparedness and readiness are key to successful response and restoration/recovery efforts. Hoping and praying that this year won’t be nearly as “active” as the year 2020 was! - Sid Sperry
