All,
Dr. Phil Klotzbach from Colorado State University’s Climate Prediction Center released their predictions for the 2021 Hurricane Season this morning. I thought I’d share their earlier than normal predictions with all of you. The 2021 Forecast from CSU is for at least 17 Named Storms (there were 30 last year) which is 3 above the 1981 to 2010 average. They also predict that at least 8 of those Named Storms will develop into at least a Category 1 Hurricane, and that at least 4 of those 8 will become Major Hurricanes. Probabilities of storms or events occurring within 50 miles of a state’s coastline are shown below. I’ve also included the summary of the Atlantic Basin Seasonal Hurricane Forecast, and the Abstract of their 30+ page report. While these numbers are above average, let’s hope that they won’t compare in any way to what actually occurred last season! Just wanted to share. - Sid Sperry, President & CEO, SPIDI Technologies, LLC.
