FYI... here are the latest forecast graphics from the National Hurricane Center, as of 4:00pm. While Delta has weakened considerably after passing over the northern Yucatán Peninsula, forecasters expect this hurricane to restrengthen into Category 3 storm before hitting some cooler waters closer to the LA coastline. It will likely make landfall by mid-afternoon Friday as a Category 2 Hurricane, with sustained winds in the 95 to 110 mph range. Storm surge estimates are still in the 2’ to 11’ range, especially near the Vermillion Bay area. The height of the storm surge will depend on the winds of Delta, and the timing of the landfall in conjunction with high tide. Rainfall amounts are forecast to be in the 4” up to 10” range. After making landfall on Friday, Delta is expected to move rapidly to the northeast as a Tropical Depression. - Sid Sperry, OAEC
