FYI... forecasters have once again nudged Hurricane Delta’s track slightly to the west. This new track would bring Hurricane Delta ashore near the Atchafalaya Bay, just south of Franklin, LA. This track would also have Baton Rouge, Morgan City, and Houma, LA, on the east or “right side” of the hurricane after its potential landfall. This side typically has more wind-related damage in a hurricane. At landfall late Friday or early Saturday, NWS and NHC are forecasting that Delta could be a Category 2 or Category 3 hurricane. Through 7am Friday, Total Rainfall amounts are estimated to be from 1.5” up to 3.5” in southern and southeastern LA. - Sid Sperry, OAEC
