Here are the latest NHC Forecast Updates as of 5pm EDT. “Delta” now has max sustained winds of 70 mph, just under hurricane strength. The NHC is forecasting that “Delta” could develop into a Major Hurricane with max sustained winds to 121 mph by late Tuesday night or early Wednesday morning. The track has shifted slightly to the west of New Orleans, LA, with a potential landfall sometime Friday afternoon or evening, possibly as a Category 2 Hurricane with max sustained winds of 98 mph.
