FYI... Tropical Storm “Gamma” has quickly increased its intensification overnight, with max sustained winds at 65 mph. However, atmospheric steering currents are forecast to keep Gamma away from the Continental United States at this time. Gamma is expected to move west-northwest at 9 mph today, and move across the Yucatán Peninsula over the weekend. After it moves into the Bay of Campeche, it is forecast to move west-southwest, toward Mexico, not toward the United States.
Another Tropical Wave (#1 below in orange) is now off the northern coast of Venezuela and is moving northwest. It could form into a Tropical Depression later this weekend, and will be the next system to watch over the next several days. - Sid Sperry, OAEC
