FYI... The NHC has upgraded Tropical Depression #22 into Tropical Storm “Beta,” with Max sustained winds of 40 mph at this time. Movement is north-northeast at 9 mph.

“Beta” is forecast to strengthen into Category 1 Hurricane by late Sunday night or early Monday morning. A second “turn” to the northeast is expected on Tuesday, which could bring moderate to heavy rainfall across much of southern and southeastern TX, and possibly the southern half of LA during the Tuesday thru Thursday time period. As rainfall forecasts are updated by local National Weather Service Forecast Offices, I will forward them along.

(Note that the NHC’s “Cone of Uncertainty” now encompasses parts of southern Louisiana, including the Lake Charles area.) - Sid Sperry
