All,

The National Hurricane Center just upgraded a Tropical Disturbance off the southeast coast of Florida to a Tropical Depression. This is Tropical Depression #19 so far this Hurricane Season. Sustained Winds with “TD-19” are at 35 mph with gusts to 46 mph. Track is to the west-northwest (285 degrees) at 8 mph. Current location is 80 miles east-southeast of Miami, FL. A Tropical Storm WATCH has been issued for southeastern Florida. In the days ahead, this Tropical Depression is expected to strengthen into a Tropical Storm (S) and potentially cause heavy rainfall across parts of south Florida, western Florida, the Florida panhandle, and by the week of Sept. 14 potentially bring substantial rainfall to parts of the Alabama, Mississippi and southeast Louisiana coastal areas. Any rainfall impacts to areas already hard hit in Louisiana by Hurricane Laura would likely occur near or after the middle of next week. - Sid Sperry
