Subject: Advisory from Georgia Department of Public Safety Motor Carrier Compliance Division

Major Johnny Jones, Commanding Officer of the Georgia Department of Public Safety Motor Carrier Compliance Division (MCCD), has advised Georgia EMC that he has just communicated with all of his officers on patrol and at weigh stations and checkpoints in Georgia that all electric utility trucks are exempt from weight and check in regulations.  The majority of Georgia’s weigh stations are already on bypass.  Any electric truck from a Georgia utility travelling to Florida, or any out of state crew responding to Georgia or travelling though Georgia to any storm-affected state will be exempt from stops and weight restrictions. Should any electric utility truck be stopped, please advise drivers to let the officer know that the truck is in route for storm restoration.
