The attached communication resources were designed to inform eligible applicants (mayors, county judges, etc.) in your service territories of the opportunity to access funding to bring community-based charging solutions to rural areas, which can be utilized to serve local members and promote economic development.
Attached you will find a shareable fact sheet and customizable letter for the Charging and Fueling Infrastructure Discretionary Grant Program (CFI Program) which is a new competitive grant program created by the bipartisan infrastructure law to strategically deploy publicly accessible electric vehicle (EV) charging and alternative fueling infrastructure in rural areas– as well as along designated Alternative Fuel Corridors (AFCs).
The CFI program provides $2.5 billion in funding to cities, counties, states and transit authorities that will be administered through two $1.25 billion discretionary grant programs:
1. Community Charging and Fueling Grants (Community Program): This program will strategically deploy publicly accessible Level 2 and DC Fast EV charging infrastructure in urban and rural communities.
2. Alternative Fuel Corridor Grants (Corridor Program): This program will strategically deploy publicly accessible DC Fast EV charging infrastructure along designated AFCs.
Disclaimer: Electric cooperatives that use this letter with state or local officials are encouraged to work with their attorney to confirm whether state or local lobbying laws apply to the cooperative’s activity.
