Reminder: FEMA Guidance for Cat B work
Michelle Hershel 02 Oct 2022 19:34 UTC
Good afternoon - as you start preparing for the next phase of storm recovery - the FEMA storm- I wanted to remind you of the newest guidance from FEMA which provides you with some flexibility on how you claim costs for work associated with power restoration projects. Under the guidance work performed that saves lives, protects public health and safety or protects improved property is considered Cat B emergency work (and should eventually be approved for 100% reimbursement). It would be useful to include a narrative which includes the key wording "saves lives, protects public health and safety" in your documentation. Any work performed that is necessary to restore to pre-disaster design in accordance with applicable codes would be considered permanent work (Cat F).
Stay safe!
