Rural Infrastructure Funding Program

Good Morning - The Department of Economic Opportunity (DEO) has just announced the availability of funding for local governments of rural communities through the Rural Infrastructure Fund (RIF). This program provides reimbursement grants to facilitate the planning, preparing and financing of infrastructure projects in rural areas. A total of $25 million is available through RIF plus $5 million is available through the Panhandle Specific Appropriation for Calhoun, Gadsden, Holmes, Jackson, Liberty and Washington counties. Even though it appears that only local governments are eligible to apply for these funds, if you have projects that locally enhance the infrastructure of your system, you may want to contact your counties/municipalities to see if your projects could be included in the local government's application.
The application cycle opens July 15, 2022 and will close August 31, 2022. Details on how to submit applications is on the attached notice. In addition, DEO will hold two webinars to provide an overview of the process - the both webinars will be on July 28, 2022, 10:00am - 12:00pm ET, or 2:00pm - 4:00pm ET. Details for the webinar are included in the attached notice.
