Good Morning! Our Finance & Accounting/Human Resource Conference is approaching quickly. We have a record number of attendees and sponsors this year- over 100! I have attached the latest program which has been changed slightly since the
last version I sent to you and the list of attendees. Please remember that the hotel has a 7 day cancellation policy so if you can not attend
you must cancel by September 11th or 12th (depending on your check-in) date to avoid being charged one night’s room rate. Also, the $29.00 resort fee has been waived for us so please check your bills to make sure the hotel
does not inadvertently charge you. Below are some comments and reminders for the conference:
Tuesday, Sept. 18:
- We will have the registration table open in the lobby from 3:00p.m. – 5:00p.m. if you want to pick-up your name badge and Friday’s breakfast voucher then.
Wednesday, Sept. 19:
- Registration will open at 8:30a.m. in the Harbor Foyer.
- The program will now start at
9:30a.m. instead of 10:00a.m to give you additional time to ask questions of FEMA.
- We are lucky to have FEMA representatives from Florida’s Department of Emergency Management, Region IV and FEMA Headquarters in D.C. presenting. This is your opportunity to ask FEMA
questions and to get clarification on FEMA’s procurement procedures and policies so please come prepared with your questions.
Thursday, Sept. 20:
- Thursday we will break out into separate meetings for Finance & Accounting and Human Resources- F&A will start at 8:00a.m. and HR will start at 9:00a.m.
- Finance & Accounting attendees: At 4:30p.m. we will have a roundtable discussion on how you calculate excess revenues to determine how much your capital credit allocation
should be. Please be ready to share your calculation with the group. Sean Alderman with Talquin will lead the discussion. Also, Russ Wasson with NRECA has been added to the program.
- Human Resource attendees: Bert Brannen is unable to present this year so Bob Riegel has agreed to expand his presentation on labor and employment law updates. Michael
Frizzell with MDF HR Consulting has been added to the program to speak on sexual harassment and workplace behavior. Karen McDowell with Legal Shield/ID Shield has also been added.
Friday, Sept. 20:
- Breakfast will be down at Caretta’s Restaurant-
you must have a breakfast voucher to attend. We will give you a breakfast voucher when you pick-up your name badge at the registration desk.
I am looking forward to seeing you soon and thank you for making this meeting a success!
